Crock Pot Tips & Hints

  • Crock Pot or Slow Cooker

CrockPot is a brand name from Rival but has come to be synonymous with slow cooker. All models of crockpots or slowcookers vary by manufacturer in the way they cook so the common definitions stating that there is a difference in the way a crockpot or slow cooker cooks is no longer valid.

  • From Oven to Slow Cooker

It's fairly easy to convert your favorite recipes to crockpot use.

    Stovetop Crockpot
    High TempLow Temp
    15-30 minutes1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hrs4 - 8 hours
    35-45 minutes3 - 4 hours6 - 10 hours
    50 minutes - 3 hours 4 - 6 hours8 - 16 hours

  • Eat Your Veggies

Place vegetables in the bottom of the crockpot and place meat on top. Fresh vegetables like carrots and potatoes take the longest to cook. Frozen vegetables may be placed on top of meat as they usually do not take as long.

  • Buying A Crock Pot

Removeable liner: This is a very nice feature for both cleaning purposes and transporting food.

  • Spice It Up

Just like with regular cooking, you should add spices and seasonings during the final stages of cooking for the most flavorful results.
